Drew you are looking at this through the eyes of a free American. Your average Russian knows what its like to live under an oppressive regime, they know the penalties involved if you go against the establishment. In the free world the reaction to something like this might be rebellion, you might get people interested in joining up just to piss the establishment off. In Russia the people know you don't piss off the establishment, not unless you want a very long holiday in Siberia.
This kind of police pressure will kill off interest from "interested ones" and people will be scared to accept literature from them or have anything to do with them. And if that saves the life of one "Bleeder" or saves just one family from being split up then that's a good thing.
However it will re-enforce the idea that Jehovah is with the witnesses and feed the paranoia of those dubs in the free world.

16,000,000 Attend memorial??

i attended the memorial last night and the speaker announced that last year 16,000,000 people attended the memorial.. i have a hard time believing that!!!!.

I've run out of threads for today, can someone start up a new thread about memorial attendance figures last night. Get people that went to report on the numbers present. Lets see if the numbers were down world wide.

I once got into a nursing home and at the time I thought all my christmases had come at once (pardon the pun) because I had a captive audience (There's no running away from me little old ladies). However I was introduced to the residents as "The Vicar" which was kind of embarrassing. The staff told me that anything other than "The Vicar" would confuse them. I just went around a went over the common stuff, stuff about Jesus and his miracles, I left the hard core dub stuff out of it so as not to confuse. I was asked to go back but I never had the heart and told the brother in charge of the map that it was a waste of time because they were mostly senile.

Often while supercilious Elder types are looking down thier bibles at the great unwashed ..publishers are looking at their Elders™ and thinking "you're no real JW or even a christian - I'll see you get yours at Armageddon!"

As someone that was once judged as not being spiritual enough to date someone else This site constantly amazes me when I see what the stuff other brothers and sisters where saying, thinking and doing and getting away with !

i have been reading all of the feed back for saddler and the others.

i too have been in a relationship with a jw for a little over a year.

i love her very much but all the abuse i have taken over the pass year from her elders, uncles, grandfather...etc has really taken it's toll on me.

Unfortunately when you get involved with a witness the relationship isn't just about you two (with maybe an awkward mother in law thrown in) its about you, her and the rest of the congregation. Even after your married the rest of the congregation will still be involved in your relationship to one degree or another.
We're all brothers and sisters, just one big happy family (not)
